OSE Co-organised a 13-day Scientific Training Programme for a Chinese Delegation from Hunan (11 - 23 January 2015)

OSE co-organised a scientific training programme during 11 - 23 January 2015 with the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH) for 5 Chinese scientists from the Hunan Provincial Department of Science and Technology's Cooperation Centre for Water Resources Research and Development and the Hunan Academy of Forestry. The training programme, focusing on lake modelling and catchment management, was part of the collaboration initiated by OSE in May 2014 among CEH, Red Skies Limited and the Chinese organisations (and Hunan Normal University's Business School) for the water quality monitoring and catchment management project for Lake Dongjiang (a reservoir) and Lake Dongting (a natural lake) in Hunan Province. The project is funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology in China. The January training programme took place at three branches of CEH: Wallingford, Edinburgh and Lancaster. In addition to freshwater and catchment ecologists from CEH who provided the training, scientific teams from the James Hutton Institute and the University of Lancaster Environment Centre participated in the training. At the end of the programme, CEH issued certificates to the five Chinese scientists for their successful completion of the training.
