OSE has a firm commitment to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals through designing and running relevant short courses that promote and facilitate sustainable development. Apart from his role as Director of OSE, Dr Samuel Chen also serves as Programme Director of the University of Oxford Programme for the Future of Cities Summer Course and China Liaison and Research Fellow of the PEAK Urban Project at the University of Oxford Future Cities Network.

This past weekend (15 - 16 December 2018), Dr Chen was invited to attend the 2018 International Conference of Future Urban Development: Sustainable City-Region Governance held at the Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School. The conference was sponsored by the Laboratory for the Urban Future, Peking University and the Laboratory for Urban Future, Peking University (Shenzhen), and co-hosted by the Oxford-PKU PEAK Urban Project.

More than thirty experts from major universities and urban and regional planning institutes in Canada, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, UK and US gave talks on a range of topics related to the recent study and practice of urban and regional planning in China, Europe, UK, and US.
